Our story
In 2020, three Muslims living in La Pocatière decided to found a space dedicated to their community in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. With no public funding or space of their own, they started modestly — driven by the conviction that every community deserves a dignified gathering place.
Today, the CCIP brings together more than 50 worshippers and is the only Islamic centre in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Seven years of service, shared prayers, activities and mutual aid have forged a close-knit community, rooted in its adopted region.
Who we are
Non-profit
Non-profit organization incorporated under the Companies Act, Part 3 (Québec).
Volunteer-run
No paid staff. Every hour invested in the CCIP is an act of voluntary service to the community.
Self-funded
No public funding. The CCIP relies on donations and the generosity of its members and community.

Our mission
Spiritual space
Provide a place for prayer, reflection and learning for Muslims in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
Newcomer integration
Support Muslim families newly settled in the region as they settle in and integrate.
Economic engagement
Encourage active participation by community members in the local economic life of La Pocatière and the BSL.
Ties with BSL organizations
Build lasting partnerships with institutions, associations and community organizations in the region.
Intercultural dialogue
Promote mutual understanding between communities and contribute to Québec's shared social fabric.
Welcoming travellers
Serve as a landmark and welcoming place for Muslims passing through the La Pocatière area.
Our big project
Our goal is to acquire land and build a complete Islamic cultural centre that will serve the community for generations to come.

A welcoming outdoor space for families during the warm season.
Halal restaurant
A gathering place offering halal meals to the community.
Revenue generated by the guest house, campground and restaurant will contribute to the sustainable self-financing of the centre, without relying on public funding.
